I am very excited to be releasing these during the year of the Snake. The Snake governs over all things unseen and has a deep spiritual nature, allowing it to evoke the powers that bridge the worlds. In the classical understanding, the Snake represents transformation, wisdom, and the ability to shed what no longer serves us. It is the eternal cycle of death and rebirth that governs all of nature. The Snake moves between the visible and invisible realms with ease, understanding both the material symptoms and their spiritual roots.
This is the year when the veil grows thin, when the ancient knowledge becomes accessible to those who have prepared themselves through years of dedicated practice. The Serpent's blessing runs through these talismans like the smooth flow of qi through unblocked meridians, enabling them to protect not merely the physical vessel, but the immortal soul itself. That divine spark which the ancients understood as our connection to the eternal Tao.
The red rope has been hand-knotted while chanting continually in order to create the strength and ties necessary for the foundation of this talisman. Red, the color of the fiery lifeforce that runs through our veins, signifies protection from evil spirits and malevolent influences. In the five element theory, red corresponds to the Fire element, the Heart system, the emperor of all organs, the seat of Shen (spirit) and consciousness.
Traditionally worn on the left wrist in order to ward off evil, it serves as a symbol of strength, vitality, and devotion to the spiritual path. The left hand, being closer to the heart, creates a direct connection to the Heart meridian and the circulation of protective qi throughout the body. Each knot was tied with deliberate intention, each twist accompanied by ancient formulas that have protected the faithful for millennia.
The rope itself becomes a vessel for divine protection, charged through weeks of continuous invocation, woven with the very breath of the practitioner. This follows the ancient tradition of creating protective bindings that regulate the flow of qi and ward off pathogenic influences, both physical and spiritual.
The rope holds two of the highest quality nephrite green jades. In Taoist tradition, green nephrite jade is revered as a sacred stone of purity, protection, and spiritual alignment. Seen as the "stone of heaven," it symbolizes harmony, virtue, and the path to immortality. The ancient texts speak of jade as possessing the pure yang essence of heaven while maintaining the cooling yin nature that calms the spirit.
Believed to absorb and radiate Qi (life force), jade is used to protect the spirit, balance the heart, and connect the wearer to both nature and the celestial realms. In traditional understanding, jade has the property of calming the Shen (spirit), cooling excess fire in the heart system, and strengthening the protective Wei Qi that guards us from external pathogenic factors.
Associated with the Jade Emperor and Taoist alchemy, it embodies the refined yin energy. nourishing, grounding, and guiding one toward inner stillness and moral integrity. Like the slow cultivation of the golden elixir within, jade works gently and persistently to purify and strengthen the wearer's spiritual constitution, building the foundation for longevity and spiritual refinement.
In the center, a White jade pi (or pi disc, also called "bi" 璧 in Chinese) holds powerful metaphysical meaning in Taoist and traditional Chinese symbolism. The pi disc is a round jade amulet with a hole in the center, representing heaven, unity, and the cyclical nature of life. This sacred circle mirrors the Taoist understanding of the eternal Tao, the source that has no beginning and no end, yet from which all things arise and to which all return.
When made of white jade, the symbolism becomes even more refined - purity, clarity, peace, and spiritual transcendence. White jade embodies the Metal element in five element theory, associated with the Lung system and the po soul. It is the corporeal soul that governs our connection to the physical realm while maintaining spiritual purity. It represents the clarity of original nature, unmarked by the world's corruption.
In Taoism, white jade pi is believed to harmonize the energy between heaven and earth, acting as a spiritual portal or conduit. The circular form represents the celestial sphere, while the central void symbolizes the Tao itself, the source from which all healing and protection flows. This creates a perpetual gateway for celestial qi to enter and worldly afflictions to be released.
It helps cultivate inner stillness, spiritual protection, and alignment with the Tao. Worn or carried, it embodies wholeness, virtue, and a connection to the divine order, guiding the practitioner toward the profound peace that comes from harmonizing with the natural order, what the ancients called Wu Wei, effortless action in accordance with the Tao.
After all these were constructed by hand, chanting and having observed the lunar cycle, they were placed in a wash and consecrated on the height of the summer solstice in order to infuse them with both the power of the herbs which were enchanted. The timing follows both the agricultural calendar that governs herbal potency and the understanding that certain celestial moments are more favorable for alchemical work.
Being cured for 24 hours in the waters of the fiery, protective plant teachers that were called upon, each talisman underwent a true transformation. The herbs considered and included were those specifically chosen to help strengthen the wearer's protective field "Wei Qi," protect against physical harm and spiritual harm, and help bring the wearer discernment in situations that may need elevated perspective.
This herbal bath draws upon thousands of years of traditional knowledge, where certain herbs are known to expel pathogenic wind, clear toxic heat, calm the spirit, and strengthen the protective qi. Like the elixirs prepared by Taoist alchemists, these plant essences carry the accumulated wisdom and spiritual force of centuries of cultivation and use.
The formulation includes herbs known in traditional practice to:
Strengthen the Wei Qi (protective energy field)
Calm the Shen (spirit) and settle the heart
Expel physical and spiritual pathogens
Enhance spiritual clarity and discernment
Protect against both physical and spiritual harm
They were then sealed in smoke as offerings were laid for the spirits called to help, to infuse them with the power to protect all those who wear them. The smoke rose as incense to the celestial realm, following the ancient tradition of offering fragrant smoke as prayers ascending to the heavens. This practice honors both the plant spirits and the celestial forces that govern protection and healing.
Sacred woods and resins were burned, creating a bridge of fragrance between the physical and spiritual worlds. Like the incense used in temple ceremonies, which carries our intentions to the realm of the immortals, this smoke served as both purification and consecration, sanctifying the talismans for their protective purpose.
This final consecration follows the ancient understanding that physical objects can become vessels for spiritual power when properly blessed and dedicated through correct ritual practice. The smoke served as both seal and invocation, sealing the protective virtues within the physical matrix while calling upon the celestial protection that flows from the source of all life.
Each talisman became a vessel for heavenly qi, a dwelling place for the forces of preservation and healing that flow from the eternal Tao. The spirits of protection, guardianship, and ancient wisdom were invited to take residence within these sacred objects, to serve as eternal guardians for those who would wear them with proper understanding.
These are a one-of-a-kind talisman that will not be available for sale again. They are limited and when sold will be gone forever. This is not commerce but sacred trust - the passing of genuine protective implements from one practitioner to another, much like how the ancient knowledge has been passed down through generations of Taoist masters and traditional healers.
The finite nature of this working reflects the reality of true spiritual practice. Genuine protective tools cannot be mass-produced without losing their essential virtue. When the current of celestial qi that made their creation possible is exhausted, no amount of repetition can recreate the exact conditions that brought them into being.
For those who understand the nature of true protective work, these talismans offer alliance with forces that have been tested through millennia of practice. They are not ornaments or symbols, but functional implements of the Way. They are reservoirs of protective qi that will discharge their virtue in service of the sincere practitioner.
Each talisman awaits its destined bearer, the one who will recognize its true nature and enter into proper relationship with the powers it contains. In wearing one, you become part of an ancient current of protection that flows from the source of all healing, the eternal Tao that is the origin and destination of all things. - Maria
